I'm not saying they need to save the world or anything, just a life or two...
Austin already has his 'hi-ya!' down while Lincoln's waiting for the victorious 'high-5'. See how they have each other's back? This dynamic duo will be unstoppable!

My Two Little Men
Awe, they grow up so quickly!! Here are some pictures to show their progress, and a little of the personalities...enjoy!
They're now the size a full term baby would be, and I can't believe people have babies that big! I'm glad they're growing, but sad at the same time because I like them so small. I'm glad they'll still be 'newborn' size for a little while longer :)
They're eating well - every 3 hours during the day and 4 hours during the night. They're still asleep for the most of the day but are wakeful some mornings and mostly in the evenings. Austin's holding his head up more, although I wouldn't call it stable yet and Lincoln is still practicing.
People ask me how I'm doing, and I couldn't be better. They're so well behaved, eat and sleep so well that they make my job easy for me. We go out and run errands regularily and like to get out of the house.
Stay tuned for more adventures!
Austin is now 8lbs and Lincoln is 6lbs 2oz.
Austin no longer fits into preemie clothes, and Lincoln is filling them out nicely - although he is getting too long for the sleepers. But don't they just look so old in their little outfits?
My mom came over yesterday to help with the gardening. It was such a nice day, we brought the boys out with us. I think they enjoyed the fresh air.
The boys are practically mummified when we wrap them.
Papa and his boys taking a nap. I love all my boys.
A friend from work knit these hats for them. They're growing out of them already! Here's a pic to document the indoctrination of football...
We had a family gathering on Sunday. Below is a 5 generation photo of my Great Grandma Doris, Grams, my Mom, me and the boys.
Here we added my brother, Kurt and is daughter Isabella
and son Donovan to the generational photo.
Grams' husband Wayne has been added to the generational photo.
Lincoln's ready to eat any time, and will start gnawing on just about anything!
The boys interacting.

They're Getting FAT!!!
Well, yes it's true - I'm a terrible blogger. It's the picture taking/downloading that I forget to do, and what's the point of blogging when there's nothing to see?
Well, I've repented and here are some pics and updates:
So the boys came home from the hospital on August 22nd when they regained their birth weights. They were oh so tiny in their car seats! I'm actually just a little nervous when I take them out because their heads bobble all over the place.
They could've sent Austin home sooner, but I thought it important to keep them together. They're now 4 weeks old and doing so well. Right now they're sharing a bassinet while Miles works at renovating the nursery. It's pretty funny, sometimes they do the same motions at the same time, and it's absolutely adorable!
I can't wait to show you the after shot, I'm pretty excited about what he's doing :)
At the last weigh-in on Friday Austine was 5lbs 14oz and Lincoln was 4lbs 10oz. Lincoln's starting to get some fat on his cheeks and they continue to feed so well. Believe it or not, they're starting to outgrow some on their preemie clothes. There are actually a couple sleepers that I adore that never even fit Austin and Lincoln is getting too long for them, but hurray they're growing!
I love them so tiny and small and I don't want them to grow, but I do because that means they're healthy and are learning to take care of themselves.
Austin is starting to lift his head for short bouts of time. Then he turns to a bobble head and he falls back down on to my chest, it's hilarious :)
They're starting to have more alert times and I'm feeling more confident taking them out in their car seats a little more.
Here are some other shots we've been taking:

Introducing to the World: Austin and Lincoln - Born Tuesday, Aug 9, 2011 at 11pm
Well, it happened. I had my babies! It came as quite a surprise, my water breaking at 4pm. I had to hurry home to prepare a hospital bag, because I wasn't expecting them for at least another 4 weeks! But off to the hospital Miles and I went, slightly numb from shock that this was happening already. I went in for a cesarean section (where they slice your belly open and grab the babies right out of you!) at 10:30pm. Here's Miles, getting ready to observe the carnage.
After Miles giving me a play by play as they sliced me open, both boys came out healthy, screaming their way into this world at 11pm. I was so happy to hear their lungs working so well! However, they were born at 34 weeks and 5 days, late premature is what they called it. So after a quick glance, off they took them to be monitored and have IV's placed in them.
Out came Austin first at a healthy 5lbs even. He's already winking!
Then Lincoln followed, at 3lbs 15oz, which, let's be honest, is pretty much 4lbs. Yup, a pound of fat surely does make a difference on a new born.
They were concerned about the amount of laboring Lincoln had to do in order to breathe, so they helped him out by putting him on a cpap machine to push the air into his lungs to help them expand. They did the same for Austin, but he was off by the afternoon, and Lincoln was off in about a day. They also gavaged him (put a tube down his throat so food would go directly into his belly) but that didn't last too long, either. What a champ he was fighting through everything!!
I finally got to see and hold him for the first time the following afternoon.
Lincoln was also showing small signs of jaundice, so they put him under UV lights for about a day. Miles was jealous that he was tanning right away!
Austin was doing great, all he had was an IV making sure he was getting all the nutrients he needed. Unfortunatly it wouldn't stay in his hand, so they shaved a small part of his head and inserted it there. I'm a little sad he has a patchy haircut, but it'll grow back. Right??
By Friday afternoon, both were doing well enough that they transferred them from the Foothills Hospital to the Peter Lougheed Hospital. Their NICU is for less critical cases, which is great news for us :) Here they are in their new temporary home.
So Miles and I have been making daily trips to PLC to see our precious boys. We've given them baths, fed them, changed diapers, checked temperatures and all sorts of things. Mostly we hold them, because they need love and we want them to know who we are. To be honest, this is a pretty good transition/learning time for us.
Both have nursed, and after being bottle fed, Austin took real well. Lincoln still has a tough time getting to latch, but patience on both our parts and we persevere and are successful.
Lincoln still has a tough time regulating his body temperature, so they have him on a heated waterbed to help him out. But there's progress! Every day they turn it down a little and he still maintains his proper temperature, so hopefully today it will be gone and he can hold his own.
Both are so healthy and strong, and they love to have their hands up around their faces. Austin likes to hold his ear and Lincoln likes them curled up under his chin. Awwe!!
All they need to do is show they're gaining weight regularily and then they can come home. Perhaps no longer than another week. Fingers crossed!!

Austin on the left, Lincoln on the right. (Yup, he needed a charming haircut, too)

So there's their first week. I'll do my best to keep my posts and photos up to date!

Quick bit with no pics
Okay, okay, I know I've been slacking! Please don't hate me. There are so many things I have to blog about and discuss, but when I get home, I just don't want to go on the computer after being stuck on it all day at work. Yes, I will confess that most of my blogs appear during the work day - but mostly lunch time, if I can help myself.... but low and behold, editing access had been cut off at the office, so it was you who suffered, getting no updates from me.
Anyhow, I'm now officially on Mat Leave for a year. No more working. It's odd, you know, not having to get up at 5:30 every day to eat. I can often times go til 6:30 or 7 now. Something I want to work on: waking up, having breakfast and getting ready for the day as I normally would if I were getting out of the house. I did pretty good earlier this week as I had appointments and running around to do, but yesterday, yesterday was a disaster. I had no need to go out of the house, therefore no need to shower, right? WRONG!! That's gross. I hope I never do that again. My hair was a disaster, my face not washed. I'm sure Miles came home and was like "great, this is what the rest of my life is going to look like..."
So, just like the 60's Homemaking book I picked up a year ago at a bookswap suggests: I'll get up and get ready for the day, every day. I'll feel better, I'll be ready if anything comes up, and I'll be more productive. Sound like a plan? Yes!! Amazing what getting up and washing your face can do for the rest of your day...
But on a quick note, before I go get ready for my day today, here's an update:
Those onions I was re-growing? Ya, forgot about them and now they're dead. So much for saving $0.89.
I'm continuing to feel well, however LARGE. My waist is now 42" and I need to grab on to anything and everything in order to get up off the couch.
Both babes are breech, as of last Tuesday, which means a c-section is on the horizon. I'll have a date by my next doc appointment next week.
Staying cool with my homemade popsicles. Perhaps I'll share my recipes in one of these posts...maybe not. Catch me on a good day ;)
Anyhow, I promise more pictures of my growing progress and the changes we're making in our home to accommodate these two little ones who are about to join us shortly. Til then, go have a shower!!
